1. Agreement
By requesting a trial or using BetterKafka, you agree to these terms and the documents linked from them. If you act for an organization, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it. Mandatory rights under applicable law are not limited.
2. Contracting details
The seller and licensor is Peter Kjaer - an individual trading as BetterKafka, at Else Alfeltsvej 31k, 5 th, 2300 Copenhagen, Denmark. Paid checkout is currently unavailable and remains disabled until Paddle completes seller verification. No paid order can be completed through this website before that verification and the final checkout disclosures are in place. Until then, these terms govern only the website, trial and evaluation software.
3. Licence
After paid checkout launches, a paid subscription will grant a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to run BetterKafka for the paid term, installation allowance, configured-cluster capacity and features shown at checkout. You may make reasonable internal backup copies of licence material, but may not publish, sell, share, bypass or tamper with licence controls.
4. Trial
The free trial is limited to one installation and one configured Kafka cluster. A key must be activated within seven days. The 24-hour trial period starts at first successful activation. No payment method is required and the trial does not convert automatically. Eligibility controls may limit repeat trials, including a 30-day email cooldown and proportionate abuse-risk signals.
5. Subscription, price and renewal
When paid checkout is enabled after verification, it will show currency, products, quantities, tax, seller and recurring total before payment. Online subscriptions will renew for the selected monthly or yearly period until cancelled. Cancellation will stop future renewal and normally leave access available through the paid term. The hosted billing portal will manage invoices, payment methods and cancellation.
6. Acceptable use
You must use BetterKafka lawfully and only with systems you are authorized to access. You remain responsible for Kafka credentials, permissions, backups, changes, records produced through the product and operator access. You must not use the service to attack, overload, probe or circumvent BetterKafka systems or another customer.
7. Self-hosted operation
BetterKafka runs in infrastructure you control. You are responsible for Kubernetes, Kafka, networking, identity configuration, storage, monitoring and upgrades. Feature availability depends on configured providers, permissions and data sources. Product screens label unavailable, estimated, sampled or configured evidence where applicable.
8. Support and availability
Self-service support is available through the support page. A response-time or availability commitment applies only if expressly included in a written order or service agreement. Planned changes and security notices may require an upgrade.
9. Refunds
The Refund Policy will form part of a paid purchase when checkout launches. It provides a 14-day first-purchase refund process and does not reduce mandatory statutory rights.
10. Suspension and termination
Paid access may be suspended for failed payment, material breach, abuse, security risk, expired entitlement or use beyond purchased capacity. Where practical, an opportunity to correct the issue will be provided. On termination, licensed use must stop when the entitlement ends.
11. Warranty and liability
BetterKafka is provided with the warranties required by applicable law and any express written order. To the maximum extent lawfully permitted, indirect or consequential loss is excluded and aggregate liability is limited to fees paid for BetterKafka in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
12. Law and changes
These terms are governed by Danish law, without removing mandatory protections available to consumers or other protected customers. Material changes apply prospectively and will be published with a new effective date. Contact support@betterkafka.com with questions.
